Basic Rules

For all of our prepared material workshops your scenes should be NO longer than 3 minutes. We’ve found 2 minutes seem to be the magic time. If you’re doing a two person scene (where both actors are preforming) it could be up to 4 minutes. (again shorter is better)

If you’re doing a monologue please keep it around 2 minutes.

Believe us, Shorter is Better -because no matter how fantastic you are you should always leave them wanting more. The feedback we receive is that even if your scene is great - if it goes on too long they tend to tune out. So Please follow this guideline.

Talent Blast Rules

We highly recommend doing a two person scene for Talent Blast. It makes for a much more professional “show” particularly for the IN Person Blasts.

During the show Please do NOT send any chat messages to the meeting group chat at any time. You can send direct messages to people who are not preforming. When someone sends a message to the whole group it pops up at the moment it’s sent and is very distracting for our Industry Guests. Please be considerate to your fellow actors.

  • We try to keep all our workshops around two hours. It’s a reasonable length of time and maintains everyones attention. Some classes may run a little longer or shorter depending on the teacher.

  • We have found that most scenes are self explanatory once they begin so there is no need to “explain” your scene unless it’s something specific they need to know in order to understand it. Some CDs will ask you tell them where it’s from or for a little set up but keep it short. It’s Also a good rule of thumb to never say “who” played the role you doing as then they automatically think of that performance as opposed to yours. Give yourself the best chance to SHINE.

  • YES, you should bring a copy of your scene to IN Person classes with the reader lines highlighted.
